We have been alerted by Warren County Emergency Management that there may be slight icing on some overpasses and bridges this morning, especially on the north e...nd of the county. No roads are currently closed and schools are open today for both in-person and distance learners. If you are concerned about travel conditions in your area, please remember that all students have the option of distance-learning. Also, please be aware that buses will be taking extra precautions and may run on a slight delay this morning. We encourage everyone to be extra careful on the roads and to allow extra travel time if you plan to travel. See more

2ND UPDATE: Our digital magazines, comics and streaming video will remain on the RBdigital app for the time being. If OverDrive chooses to move these onto Libby at a future date, we will let you know. UPDATE: Our library is now on the app! Use our library's zip code, 39180, to find our name. You will need your full library card number and your 4-digit PIN. Please call 601.636.6411 if you need assistance.... We are keeping tabs on the setup with Libby and we are aware that our library is not among the choices, yet, on registration. The Director is already in touch with OverDrive to find out when our patrons may fully register. We will post more information as we find out.

American author Rachel Caine passed away on November 1 at the age of 58. She wrote both adult and young adult books in various genres including science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense, and horror. Our library has a number of her works in our Young Adult section as well as one in Adult Fiction.

Eddie Hassell, American actor and author, passed away today at the age of 30. He was part of the cast of the Oscar nominated film 'The Kids are Alright'. He also made appearances in several TV series including 'Bones', 'Devious Maids' and 'Surface'. Our library's A/V collection contains the first season of 'Devious Maids' (in which he played the recurring role of Eddie Suarez).

Sean Connery, Scottish actor and producer known for being the original James Bond in the movies, passed away today at the age of 90. He won Academy Awards for both Best Actor ('The Name of the Rose') and Best Supporting Actor ('The Untouchables'). Among other honors, he received the Kennedy Center Honor (1999) and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II (2000). Our library's A/V collection contains a number of his films including both of his Academy Award performances and his Bond films among others.

Billy Joe Shaver, American country music singer and songwriter associated with the Outlaw country style, passed away today at the age of 81. His music was recorded by many other artists including Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presley and Kris Kristofferson. Our library's A/V collection contains 'The Wendell Baker Story', which features a musical performance by Billy Joe Shaver.

It has been announced that DeOndra Dixon, Global Down Syndrome Foundation ambassador since 2011, former Special Olympics athlete, and younger sister of actor/singer Jamie Foxx, has passed away at the age of 36. Our library collection contains 'Special Olympics and Paralympics' by Lorraine Henriod (Juvenile Nonfiction - J 796.48 H519s) as well as a number of books on Down Syndrome ranging from Early Reader ('My Friend has Down Syndrome' by Kaitlyn Duling' - E D) to Adult Nonfiction ('An Uncomplicated Life: a Father's Memoir of His Exceptional Daughter' by Paul Daugherty - 616.8588 D238u).

Diane di Prima, American poet, artist, prose writer, memoirist, playwright, and social justice activist, passed away on October 25 at the age of 86. In the late 50s, early 60s, she participated in the emerging Beat movement. She is among the 50 women featured in 'Femme Magnifique: a Comic Book Anthology Salute to 50 Magnificent Women from Pop, Politics, Art & Science' (920. 72 F329m).
