October 27th, the City of Canyon was informed by Amarillo Public Health that there has been a total of 713 confirmed positive cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Canyon with 266 cases active, 441 recovered, and 6 deaths. These numbers are for all of those in the Canyon zip code (79015) and not just Canyon proper. 79015 - 686 cases - 432 recoveries 79016 WTAMU Campus - 27 cases - 9 recoveries... Due to sensitive information the City of Canyon is not provided with details on any cases. Amarillo Public Health professionals with extensive training conduct contact investigations. Once the investigation is complete, individuals who spent time with an infected individual are contacted. The City of Canyon is following the Orders as put in place by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
