TODAY! SIX COMMUNITY JUSTICE PATHWAYS TO AVOID PRISON AND JAIL (KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Senator William N. Brownsberger, Chairperson, Joint Committee on the Judiciary) Part of the Massachusetts Probation Service, the Office of Community Corrections operates 18 Community Corrections Centers (CCCs) across the Commonwealth. The CCCs provide a community-based alternative to jail and prison through a combination of programs and services that have been shown to reduce recidivism among th...ose at the highest criminogenic risk. CCCs deliver cognitive-behavioral treatment interventions to address decision making and substance use disorder, educational support to prepare for HiSET, GED, or post-secondary placement, and counseling to support career oriented employment. The 2018 Criminal Justice reform laws expanded the statutory bases by which people can access these resources. Today CCCs are available not only as an intermediate sentence but for pretrial treatment, pretrial services, support during the probation term, or to welcome those returning to the community after a period of incarceration. http://ow.ly/CW6050CmKM8 See more
