Sunflower County Library System Library Events On Your Mark, Get SetREAD!... Kids will have a chance to read to someone or have someone read to them during the months of June and July. Join children from Kindergarten to 5th grade for the Summer Critic Reading Challenge at the Moorhead and Inverness Libraries during the month of June. Everyone who completes the program by finishing their contract will be invited to a final party. Second and Third Grade students are invited to read to a librarian or volunteer through June and July. Kindergarten through Second grade students can enjoy story time from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. every Wednesday at the Moorhead library and every Thursday at the Inverness library. Children from ages 5 to 12 are invited to come to the Henry M. Seymour Library and express themselves through dance every Thursday June 23 through the 30th, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Get your kids excited about their health and safety by attending the Family Health and Safety Fair at the Ruleville Library on June 23 and at the Drew Library on June 24, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Stop by for tips on healthy eating, exercise, fires safety and more, as well as giveaways and a special martial arts demo. Compete in the Olympic Games at the Indianola Library on June 23, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Medals will be awarded to winners in games such as ring toss, hurdles, discus and musical chairs! Rediscover the moving power of your life and explore your sacred space through art and the creative process. On June 28, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Ruleville Library invites the community to learn about meditation and the art process that helps people create an authentic relationship with themselves. Come imagine with music and movement at the Drew Library on June 29th, 2016 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The music and movement program is energetic, crazy fun done through reading a story and acting out its parts. Summer reading got kicked off to a great start Monday at First United Methodist Church Daycare. The children had a great time with Diane Butler reading books with a lot of help from the kids. Magician Steve Thomas will be at Lockard tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. and A.W. James in Drew at 11:30. Hope to see you there!

Indianola, Ms. Call Nita Dill for more information 887-1672 What are the first signs of Alzheimer’s disease? Mild forgetfulness can be a normal part of the aging process. But when memory problems begin to seriously affect daily life, they could be early signs of Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. Here are some of the early warning signs: Memory loss that disrupts daily life Asking the same question or repeating the same story over and over again. Forgetting information just learned or losing track of important dates, names and places. Relying heavily on memory aids like Post-it notes or reminders on your smartphone. Difficulty planning or solving problems Difficulty concentrating on detailed tasks, especially involving numbers; for example, keeping track of bills and balancing a checkbook. Forgetting how to do familiar tasks Forgetting how to do activities that were previously routine, such as cooking, making repairs, or playing cards. Confusion with dates, time or place Distorted perception of dates, time or place. Becoming disoriented or feeling lost in familiar places. Trouble with spatial relationships Difficulty reading words on a page, judging distances, telling colors apart. New problems with words in speaking or writing Trouble finding the right word or calling things by the wrong name. Conversations can be a struggle and difficult to follow. Misplacing objects and the inability to retrace steps Finding objects in unusual places, like a watch in the refrigerator.
