***NEW BOOK KLAXON*** Introducing our Book of the Month for December... BODY LANGUAGE by A K Turner is a gripping and unique thriller, which Val McDermid has called ''Spellbinding storytelling'.... A K Turner will be joining us LIVE on Facebook on Thursday 17 December at 7pm. Tune in to find out more about this fabulous book, and to meet your new favourite author. BODY LANGUAGE Cassie Raven believes the dead can talk. We just need to listen . . . People think being a mortuary technician is a seriously weird job. They can't understand why I choose to cut up dead bodies for a living. But they don't know what I know: The dead want to tell us what happened to them. I've eviscerated thousands of bodies, but never someone I know before - someone who meant a lot to me; someone I loved. The pathologist says that her death was an accident. Her body is telling me differently. We'll also be chatting about BODY LANGUAGE at our next Twitter Book Club. Join us on Wednesday 16 December at 7pm, follow @bpoollibraries and tweet using #bookpool to let us know your thoughts on the book. Borrow the book on Overdrive or Libby for FREE with a Blackpool Library card https://blackpool.overdrive.com/media/5797827 With thanks to the author, and to Zaffre Books

The star of the 1927 run of Blackbirds at the Opera House, Winter Gardens was 'The Queen of Happiness' Florence Mills. She was a Broadway cabaret singer, dancer... and comedian. Throughout her life, alongside her love for the arts, Mills was a passionate advocate of Equal Rights. Her signature song, 'I'm a Little Blackbird' became her plea for racial equality. Florence's inspiring story has been immortalised in the children's book, 'Harlem's Little Blackbird' which is available from our colleagues at Blackpool Libraries Sadly, at the early age of 31, Florence Mills passed away, and over 10,000 mourners visited the Funeral Home to pay their respects as she lay in rest.
